It was my pleasure to work with Soma Jurgensen during a strategic planning session that we launched in 2013. From 2010 to 2012, our organization saw substantial growth. However, like most organizations, we found that our marketing efforts and business process needed some assistance, as this growth had come at a significant expense to the organization. Soma worked with us and helped to identify strategic improvements that would deliver sustainable and profitable growth that was aligned with our technical capabilities. In a few meetings, Soma was able to create surveys and helped us interview senior management and customer facing employees. She correlated the survey data and she setup up strategic planning sessions with the leadership team. Soma then helped us identify process improvements and suggested ways to promote our organization and capabilities.Soma is energetic, enthusiastic, engaged and ‘pulls no punches.’ She will tell you exactly what you need to do to improve. I highly recommend Soma in any marketing campaign or business process improvement initiative.
[Soma’s Networking Success] is a great workshop for newbies and old hands alike. It busts some myths and explores your mindset about networking events, questions to ask yourself to set clear goals, and then moves to tips and insights. First-rate, practical material one can begin to implement immediately.
As I’m getting ready for another networking event, I look over on my wall at Soma’s 5 Tips to Network with Confidence. It’s been three months since my training session with Soma, and I still have her tips up on my wall. Thank you, Soma for the simple reminder that networking isn’t only about sales, it’s about relationship building. And to not forget my business cards!
Soma presented “Negotiate with Confidence” for Women In Networking (WIN). Immediately afterward two of our members approached me to say how much they learned and suggested that we bring her back for a “part 2” to learn even more. Soma professionally presented useful information and insights, and she was responsive to questions from the audience. We would definitely be interested in having her present again.
Soma is someone you want to know and be working with the instant you meet her. Whether it’s her savvy business style, incredible knowledge of the world, or sparkling personality, Soma is a wealth of useful information, impeccable logic, fantastic stories, and personal philosophies which both educate and entertain. I have been fortunate to work with Soma recently, and I’m looking forward to working with her again. Soma is a delight!
Soma is one of the most passionate and dynamic marketers I have had the pleasure of working with. She has extensive knowledge of developing and activating challenging and multifaceted promotional campaigns while ensuring she is continuously driving to meet the business objective at hand.
I’ve collaborated with Soma as a speaker in her Managing Diversity in the Workforce course and as part of the School of Business Advisory Board. What has impressed me most is the way in which she blends her business mindset with her role as an educator. She has a rare combination of business savvy, teaching skills, and the ability to connect with students that make her classes relevant and personal. She embodies the new model of teacher required for preparing a 21st Century workforce.
If you are only networking, you’re not doing all you canAs someone who has struggled with starting up new small businesses, I’ve spent a lot of time reading books and blogs about the importance of networking and finding leads. Soma Datta’s book, “Fearless Follow-up” stands apart, because she goes beyond merely finding leads and takes you down the path to conversion. She rightfully identifies that fear is an obstacle for many of us, and then provides a clear and concrete path out of the fear. I expected the book to be something of a thought exercise, but it’s much more practical than that, which both surprised me and pleased me. Don’t relegate this book to the shelf. It belongs on your desk, open, where you can see it every day, scribble in it, and let it prompt you to take action and follow-up fearlessly.
One small paragraph won’t suffice for Soma Jurgensen. … She commands attention in the classroom and extracts critical thinking at microscopic and telescopic points of view. Soma exudes confidence, dignity, and compassion in everything she does. She embraces technology, employs myriad teaching methods, and is comfortable in leadership positions big and small.
